AWAY DAYS EP01: FAVELA GOVERNMENT
Formed in 1979, 'Red Command' (CV) is the oldest gang in Brazil. It's considered a plague by the government, but for the people of the favelas they control, the gang is the government. CV has taken over the role of the authorities in the shanty towns they control. Inside there’s no police, no state, and no regulations. Street justice rules all. We spent a week in the favelas with CV to see how an armed gang takes on the role of a makeshift government.

The majority-Muslim country of Kazakhstan is one of the most unlikely places for football hooliganism to take root. And yet, believe it or not, the scene there is growing rapidly. Born from Aktobe’s “13 Sector”, these crews mix British hooliganism, European ultras culture, and ancient Kazakh tradition to create a unique, fully-formed underground counterculture. Forest fights, street patrols, fanaticism—a new scene thriving 3000 miles away from where it all began.
